Spirit Dream: Rose

I asked Kai if it would be all right if I put this here even though the dream was mine. It seemed to fit better here than on my blog, where I rant about this, that, and the other.
I have been looking very hard for signs from my father, who died two months ago. I may have had one, but then again the light may have been playing tricks on my eyes. I am not a completely credulous ghost whisperer. I'm actually an open minded skeptic who proceeds "as if." What I generally find is that I'm right more often than not.
Being psychic doesn't mean having perfect knowledge. I'm not a perfect psychic. I wish I could see ghosts. I generally cannot. I have seen flashes and images but only rarely have I seen full apparitions. One of them seemed aware of me, the other did not. I believe that one was actually a spirit, the other a residual, like a security tape loop. There wasn't any consciousness there.
At any rate, I didn't come here to talk to you about my abilities to see or not to see spirits. That is not the question.
What I came here to talk to you about was...
Lily's writing partner!
Lily's writing partner was in my dream when I lay down to sleep today. Even though the feeling I got when I asked him to visit me when I initially took over this project was positive, I've always had some doubt but went ahead "as if." For a time he was also accompanied by another of the spirits that contributed to the book, but this spirit was mostly content to let his friend talk.
In the dream, the spirit in question was doing an interview. This person was described as being rather a quiet person, and in the one brief live video (as opposed to still photograph) that I have seen of him, he seemed rather unsure of himself, uncomfortable in his own body. He was quite tall, and I sensed that he wasn't entirely comfortable with that because it made him stand out. He used it to his advantage when performing, creating an imposing stage presence, but in real life his stance indicated to me that he didn't like standing out that way.
He had a nice speaking voice, but it was understated. In the dream (or astral journey) he was being interviewed about the writing project. He spoke clearly and with an understated enthusiasm. He's not the "jumping on the couch" type but it was clear to me that he believed in the project. He smiled and laughed a fair bit and was quick to answer questions and confident in his answers.
After the interview I went walking with him in a wooded area. We came to a clearing where there was a large but dilapidated house. I don't know if this exists anywhere in waking life. The leaves were red and gold, and many were on the ground, indicating that the time was fall, closing in on winter. I'm not entirely clear about the significance of the place. The forest area could either have been Colorado where I live, or somewhere in Scandinavia, where he was from. I'm not even sure that it matters.
This fellow who was so unhappy in his life was full of joy and vitality. He put a companionable hand on my shoulder and we walked away from the old, falling house.
The only thing I specifically remember him saying was "thank you for your help in this project and for keeping it alive. There is still so much to do."
I sensed from him that he still regretted his decision of nearly 20 years ago although he understood his own reasons. It's almost like the person now and the person who made the decision then are two different people.
There is a line from Stephen King's Duma Key which expresses this very well.

“Do I regret what I did? Sometimes si, sometimes no. When its si, I remind myself I wasn’t the same man then that I am now, and that I have to cut the old me some slack. That man was so hurt and lost he really wasn’t responsible. This is my other life, and I try to look at my problems in it as…well…birth defects.”
--“Wireman” from Stephen King’s Duma Key, regarding the suicide attempt that left a bullet in his brain.

I think that this experience offers great hope for those who lost someone to suicide, although of course the person cannot be brought back. The soul does continue to heal. A person once full of pain and self-loathing is now confident and hopeful, although I still sense sorrow on his soul.
I wish to express my gratitude to this spirit for his support and encouragement. It means a great deal to the rest of us! After all, without him, it wouldn't even be.

Ghosts Really Aren't Supernatural

The first paragraph is actually an observation by Rose, but Kai and I have discussed this sort of thing many a time. I made this observation on my Facebook page after a friend shared a link to a book that he'd been reading. The book is called The Language of God by Dr. Francis Collins.

I honestly don't think that science and the so-called "paranormal" or "divine" are exclusive. I think it's all part of nature. There are just some parts of nature that we don't yet understand. Once we would have laughed at the idea of people going to the moon. Now it's a given. A true scientist keeps an open mind.

I would like to take the opportunity to allow Kai to share his thoughts on the matter so you can get to know him and his way of expressing himself.

All things are energy. This is a truism recognized by scientists everywhere in the modern age. A living body generates energy. This we can observe, both with our eyes and with instruments. Now, when this body dies, this energy is no longer generated. Where does it go?
It is a truism that energy does not cease to exist, it only changes form. The energy that is the life force thus DOES NOT CEASE TO EXIST.
Now, understand if you will, that there is energy generated from a body decaying, or being reduced to ash by cremation. But this is only the energy as it relates to the physical body. Again, where does the energy of the life force go?
This life force is the vehicle for the Spirit when the life of the physical body ceases. It is energy. It is measured as electricity. It can be measured on the instruments used by ghost hunters or such.
Thus, there are many beings that exist only as energy. Some once had physical bodies. Some never did.
All religions are wrong and yet all contain a grain of truth. There is something that survives the death of the physical body. There are intelligences which were always purely energy.
For anyone to assume that only their system of belief has the answer to what follows the death of the body is quite arrogant. It is a similar arrogance as believing that life only exists on this one planet out of the whole universe. And it is also statistically most unlikely.
To have no belief in religion is not the same as to have no belief in anything beyond physical life. It is not necessary to have faith in any religion. Religions were created by humans. One either agrees or disagrees with the school of thought attributed to these philosophies. Although such a philosophy can work as a guide to help one make good personal decisions in their life, perhaps, and to have a moral code, to be a slave to any particular creed is folly.
There are as well individuals whose refusal to consider belief in anything beyond the physical world. Their belief in non-belief is in itself a religion though they would probably not like to call it this. It is also equally unscientific. A scientist keeps the mind open to possibility and discovery. The minds of these individuals is as closed as the mind of an individual who clings to their bible--a work written by human beings--and attributes to this book absolute divinity. Enslavement to either blind faith or blind nihilism creates a closed universe for the follower thereof.
It is not that I encourage anyone to give up their religion or to feel the need to follow a religion. I only feel that to have an attitude of openness and tolerance is the best way to a happier--and more interesting--experience for all.
Your friend in spirit,
Kai

Welcome

This is the blog for Rose to impart information channeled from her spirit friend Kai Rikard, who helped her rework the controversial 2007 novel Eternal Death: Lost Beneath the Surface by Lily Strange. To learn a little about Lily, click here to read her old blog. Lily no longer writes or blogs. She was very candid about sharing her experience with the spirit with whom she wrote her book and in the end the experience was very damaging to her.
I am not at liberty to answer questions about Lily, except as relates to my revision of her novel, which is due out in February of 2011. Please do not ask me to. I also cannot answer questions regarding her spirit friend. I only met him once. He was polite to me and gave me his blessing to revise their book. He made it pretty clear that although he wouldn't mind talking to me again he did not want to answer questions about himself or his life. Please do not ask me to bother him. He requires peace.
I am not a professional medium. I will transcribe what I channel from Kai as it comes to me. I am not going to answer test questions, i.e. what is my favorite food, what color is my underwear. Such questions are a waste of energy. If you have a question that you would like answered via divination, please contact me to do a Tarot reading. If you require the services of a medium, please contact me and I will give you some recommendations.
The information I channel from Kai will relate to the things that he has learned while in spirit. There is the slant of my interpretation on this. Imagine that you were communicating with someone on a faraway planet using an old ham radio. Sometimes their words would not come through.
I am a clairsentient empath. This means that I perceive emotions. I don't know a lot of high-fallutin' stuff about higher selves, the hierarchy of angels or planes of existence, or things of this nature, although I do enjoy studying religion and philosophy. Your belief system may be different from mine. What I record here and on my personal blog are my own experiences.
I met Kai Rikard during a very difficult period in my life. I experienced post-partum depression after the birth of my son and my marriage began to fall apart as I paid more attention to my child. My relationship with my now ex-husband, who was the adult child of an alcoholic, became more and more shaky. I was experiencing horrible obsessive thoughts (I later discovered that I do have obsessive-compulsive disorder) and periods of hypersexuality (which is part and parcel of untreated bipolar disorder) combined with a revulsion of sex (part and parcel of having been sexually assaulted.) I probably would have killed myself if not for having my baby son to think of. My dreams were all violent and sexually graphic. I was disgusted and seeking help from the worlds beyond, because I could find none in this world.
I truly believe that Kai saved me from the attacks of various negative spirits. The first time that I can recall conversing with him was the spring of 1992. I have always experienced severe depression in the spring. I was thinking strongly of suicide. Kai came to me and talked me out of it.
Kai committed suicide at the age of twenty-four around July of 1991. He was the product of an abusive home and suffered from a head injury when he was four years old and his father threw him down a flight of stairs. He suffered from severe depression and periods of psychosis. He eventually hanged himself.
Kai was thrilled to help me work on the revision of Lily's novel. In a way he was part of the underground metal scene. He was an admirer of many of the musicians involved and was hoping that one day he could become involved somehow. He wrote his own songs and was learning to play various instruments.
"I was okay at the guitar and keyboard, but I was no Quorthon," he quips.
Someday Kai may feel comfortable enough to share some of his poetry, but he's still a little shy about it.
Like the young man who inspired the creation of the original novel, Kai is Swedish. Rose can't understand Swedish, so don't ask me to try and write in it!
Kai says that due to his mental problems he never held a job for very long, but he did enjoy gardening.
"I liked plants better than people," he says. "I never met a plant that was a deliberate asshole. Best to avoid poison hemlock, I should think. It has homicidal tendencies."
Kai is shy and quiet, generally a good-natured fellow. He is compassionate but like all spirits he has something of a non-interference directive. He can't solve your problems or my problems or anyone else's problems.
I too am a little shy about "putting it out there," but there seem to be people who are seeking for a place where they can at least speculate on the possibilities. If you are polite, open-minded, and genuine, you are welcome here.
Best Wishes,
Kai and Rose
